Thermal Insulation Glass

Thermal insulation glass uses Low-E and solar-control coatings to manage heat transfer, solar gain, visible light transmission and appearance in building glazing. The correct thermal insulated glass configuration should be selected from the required U-value, solar-control target, VLT, exterior reflectance, climate and complete glazing make-up rather than coating type alone.

Low-e coating


Low-E means low-emissivity glass. The coating is designed to control long-wave heat transfer while maintaining the optical properties required by the selected product. Low-E glass may be incorporated into double- or triple-glazed assemblies when the project requires a lower U-value or specific solar performance. Leading insulated glass unit suppliers incorporate these coatings to maximize energy efficiency.


Hard Coated Low-e Glass

It’s an online low-e, low-e coated when glass comes from the kiln line.


The biggest advantage of hard-coated low-E is it’s hard and has no chemical reaction when exposed in the air, glass can be used as a single panel.


The emissivity is about 0.15-0.2, higher than soft-coated low-E coatings, so hard coated Low-E glass U value higher than soft-coated low-e glass, maintaining reliable thermal performance for both thermal insulated glass and laminated glass heat insulation applications.

Soft Coated Low-e Glass

Soft-coated Low-E is an offline coating produced after float-glass manufacture, typically using magnetron sputtering technology. It can be applied to clear or tinted substrates. The product family is commonly described as single-, double- or triple-silver Low-E according to the coating design; final selection should be based on the actual product data rather than silver-layer count alone.


Single Silver Low-E coating

Single-silver Low-E uses a single silver-based functional layer within the coating stack. The U value is around 1.7-1.8, SC value around 0.3-0.7. The processing for tempering single silver low-e is easier,it’s also not as costly as double silver low-e or triple silver low-e.


Double Silver Low-E coating

Double Silver Low-E coating is with two silver layers in the coating. It has better U value around 1.6-1.7, SC value can be around 0.25-0.45. it provides excellent energy saving performance, used widely for constructions and passive house. It’s more expensive than single silver low-e glass.


Triple Silver Low-E coating

It’s actually a high technology for low-e coating industry, with three silver layers inside the coating, it has high VLT to get more sunlight and better U value and SC value to keep heat or cold. As the most expensive one among the three types, it delivers unmatched energy efficiency for luxury thermal insulated glass and top-tier thermal insulation projects.

Solar Reflective Coating


Solar-reflective coatings are used to manage solar gain, visible-light transmission, exterior reflectance and facade appearance. The required balance depends on climate, orientation, target solar-control metric, VLT, color and the complete glazing configuration.


The advantage of solar reflective glass is :the shading efficiency is very good, Rich and colorful shooting tones and excellent decorative effects, good sight shielding function, reduce the transmission of UV light.
